Police Appeal To Identify Man Believed To Have Been Involved In Serious Assault

Police in Belfast are appealing to the public for information to try and identify the man pictured.

The man is believed to have been involved in a serious attack which happened outside licensed premises in the Bank Square area at around 10pm on 16 January.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Any person who can identify this male or provide any information about this incident, please contact Police at Lisburn Road Police Station on 101, quoting Police reference 608 of 17/1/16. Alternatively, If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
