Gas Leak At Hospital After Digger Hits Main
Police and the Northern Ireland Fire Service have dealt with a minor gas leak at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Belfast.
The emergency services received reports of the leak at around 8.30am today, 15 April.
A statement from the South Eastern Trust said: "There was a gas leak at the Ulster Hospital this morning, on the construction site for the new Acute Services Block. It has now been isolated, with no danger to patients or staff and no need for evacuation.
"It happened around 8.30am when a digger hit a gas main, and a 50 metre exclusion zone was set up until the gas could be turned off.
"The nearby laundry was closed as precaution, and ventilation was turned off inside some parts of the hospital for a short time, but the NI Fire and Rescue Service said there was no danger and the situation was resolved within 30 minutes."
