Two Men Charged Over East Belfast Robberies

Two men have been charged in connection with two robberies in east Belfast.

The incidents happened at two commercial premises on the Albertbridge Road at 11:35am and 11:50am on Tuesday, 12 April.

The suspects, aged 29 and 33, are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court later today, 14 April.

DUP East Belfast Assembly candidate Robin Newton said: "The robberies of these two local businesses are attacks on the entire community. It is deplorable that staff and owners are subjected to such violent incidents and the longer term mental health issues of such matters can be traumatic.

"The PSNI need the support of the local community to catch those responsible and keep the community safe."

The charges are to be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
