80 New Jobs Announced By Fastest Growing Business App Slack

Slack has announced that it is to move its European headquarters to Dublin.

The company will open its new HQ in One Park Place and create 80 new jobs over the next two years.

Slack, a privately held software company headquartered in San Francisco, opened its first office outside of North America in The Digital Hub, Dublin 8, in May 2015. Having outgrown the space, the company is moving its European headquarters to accommodate new positions in customer experience and account management teams, which will bring the total number of people working for Slack in Ireland to 180 by the end of 2017. The jobs are being created with the support of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland. 

The move to the new European HQ, which occupies 29,000 square feet in the heart of Dublin, comes hot on the heels of strong growth and the company opening its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, at the end of March. 

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said: "Software is a key sector which we have targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and when Slack announced last year that it was establishing an operation in Dublin and creating 100 jobs it was a major boost. Today's announcement that it is creating an additional 80 jobs and opening a new office is further evidence of its commitment to Ireland and its ambitious plans for its operations here. Winning investments from world-leading companies like Slack not only create large numbers of jobs in themselves, but also make it easier for us to market Ireland for further investments and develop a vibrant start-up community here."

Commenting on the expansion, Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland said: "Slack is a great example of how companies can quickly establish their operations in Ireland and rapidly expand using the strong pool of local talent.
