Warning Issued To Residents Over Bogus Builders
Police have issued a warning to residents living in south Belfast to be aware of bogus builders.
Police received a report that bogus workmen demanded money from a pensioner living in the Greenwood Hill area before carrying out any work.
Detective Sergeant James Johnston said three men travelling in a white van called at the elderly man's home and offered to carry out work demanding payment upfront.
They returned a number of times asking for further payment for the "alleged" work.
Detective Johnston said it appeared no work took place and "that the monies paid by the vulnerable householder far exceeded what any legitimate tradesman would reasonably charge for such services".
Police also said they are investigating a possible link after another report of a suspicious male in the same area on 10 April.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
