School Group Rescued From Mourne Mountains
A school group have been rescued from the Mourne mountains after deteriorating conditions put them into difficulty.
The group of 11 had been on an expedition and one of the group lost consciousness as a result of severe hypothermia. Several others suffered from mild hypothermia.
The Mourne Mountain Rescue Team (MMRT) found the group on the Western flank of the Beg/Commedagh Col and treated the group accordingly.
Seven members were guided off the mountains to team vehicles and returned to teachers. A further three were assessed and received further treatment at the scene before being guided off.
The eleventh member whose condition was the most severe was assessed, treated, packaged and stretchered to team vehicles and transferred to an ambulance.

Teenage Girls Rescued From Mourne Mountains
Seven teenage girls have been rescued from the Mourne Mountains in Newry. The group contacted the emergency services following fading visibility and poor weather conditions on the mountain on Monday. Police officers, PSNI Search and Rescue specialists, and Mourne Mountain Rescue located the group.

Emergency services have launched an operation after a group of Army cadets got into difficulties in the Mourne Mountains. 16 of the group are suffering from hypothermia and sustained minor injuries, according to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS). The alarm was raised at around 11.15am on Wednesday, 02 August.

Aircraft Downed Near Mournes
There are few details as yet on the crash of a small aircraft near the Mourne Mountains late this afternoon. It is known that two people have been injured after the plane crashed in a field in County Down, not far from the mountain range.

Mourne Mountains Fire Treated As Suspicious
Police have confirmed they are treating a major gorse fire in the Mourne Mountains as suspicious. Over 50 firefighters tackled the blaze, which originated in Donard Forest on the evening of Sunday 21 April and continued throughout the night. The Northern Ireland Fire And Rescue Service (NIFRS) have now determined that it was started deliberately.
