Continuity IRA admits attempted Belfast bombing
The Continuity IRA has admitted responsibility for planting a bomb outside a police station in north Belfast last night.
More than 100 families were evacuated from their homes after a device placed inside a Vauxhall Cavalier was discovered parked outside York Road police station at around 9.45pm on Tuesday.
Police said the device, which consisted of a 30lb gas cylinder with a timer power unit attached, could have killed passers-by and caused widespread devastation.
Army technical experts carried out a controlled explosion on the car which was left at Castleton Avenue, a side-street off York Road.
The controlled explosion caused minor damage to some nearby houses and a local Presbyterian church.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Viable Incendiary Device Found On Police Station Grounds
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable incendiary device discovered on the grounds of Ballycastle Police Station, Co Antrim. A second device found has been declared a hoax. They were discovered on the Ramoan Road on Thursday morning. A number of businesses were forced to close during the alert, however they have now reopened.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a car bomb attack on Moira police station in 1998. The suspect is being questioned at Antrim police station. He was detained in the Moy area of County Tyrone this morning.

Greenisland gas explosion deliberate
A gas explosion and fire in which 50 homes had to be evacuated in County Antrim, may have been caused deliberately according to police. Flames shot 30ft in the air near the railway station on Station Road, Greenisland, on Sunday.
