NI Firm To Create Over 90 Manufacturing Jobs

A Magherafelt firm has announced it is to create over 90 new manufacturing jobs as part of a £4 million investment.

Bloc Blinds will create a total of 93 new posts over the next three years and will invest in new manufacturing facilities and extensive market development activities to help drive export sales.

The investment is supported by Invest NI and First Trust Bank.

Enterprise Minister Jonathan Bell welcomed the announcement.

He said: "With full manufacturing and multi skilled training provided to all production employees at Bloc Blinds, this expansion offers attractive roles for those returning to work or seeking alternative employment.

"Invest Northern Ireland's offer of £465,000 is helping this indigenous manufacturer to implement its growth plans quickly so it can maximise opportunities in a worldwide market."

Bloc Blinds specialises in the design and manufacture of window blinds and recently moved into its renovated and extended new premises at Station Road, Magherafelt.

Community Projects Receive £1.1m
A total of 16 community groups across Belfast have received total funding of just over £1.1m from City Council. The funding boost is being delivered through the £5m Local Investment Fund (LIF), which is part of the council's wider Investment Programme for the city. The move brings the overall amount allocated through the fund to over £2.

£1.25m For Belfast Community Projects
20 community regeneration projects across Belfast have received funding totalling £1.25m from the City Council. The funding is part of £5m set aside for the Local Investment Fund (LIF). Just under £1.3m is earmarked each to the North, South, East and West of the city and a further £490,000 allocated for the Shankill area.

Four New Play Parks Announced For L'Derry
£2.8m from the Executive's Social Investment Fund is going toward four new play parks in L'Derry, The facilities will be located at Ballymagroarty Play Park, Kilfennan Valley Park, Ballyarnett Country Park and Daisyfield. Derry City Council has put up £300,000 towards the project.

Westland Horticulture To Create 70 New Jobs
Westland Horticulture has announced it is to create 70 new jobs in Dungannon as part of a £9.6 million expansion. The firm recently developed a new fertiliser manufacturing plant at Invest NI's Dungannon Business Park. It is also investing in new machinery and equipment, as well as a training and development programme.
