Suspected Arson Attack At North Belfast Apartment Block

Police have launched an investigation following a suspected arson attack at an apartment block in north Belfast.

Bins were set alight in the amenities area of the apartment block in the Edlingham Street area on Tuesday.

The NIFRS and police attended the scene and put the blaze out.

No-one was injured, however damage was caused to the ground floor of the building.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Wellie Park's Planning Appeal Rejected
Plans to redevelop south Belfast's Wellington Park Hotel have been rejected. The Mooney Group, which owns the hotel on the Malone Road, had proposed to demolish the existing building and build a larger hotel and an associated apartment block.

Historic Building To Be Saved From Demolition
An historic building in Belfast city centre has been saved from demolition by the Department for the Environment, it has emerged. The 'Frames' property, a distinctive triangular building at Little Donegall Street has been 'spot listed' by the Environment and Heritage Service.

'Small Bomb' Found During Security Alert
Army bomb experts have been called to examine an explosive device found at an apartment block in east Belfast. Police said that a number of residents were evacuated from the apartments in the Short Strand Road area at about 20:00 on Tuesday night. They described the device as a "small bomb". No further details have been released.
