Controlling Construction Pollution

Pollution emissions from construction sites can cause nuisance and risks to the health of site personnel and local residents. New guidance on good environmental practice to control these pollutants, comply with environmental legislation and prevent problems, is being launched at a conference at BRE near Watford on 30 October 2003.

The guidance will cover pre-project planning, site preparation, demolition, earthworks and landscaping; haulage routes, vehicles and plant; and the fabrication process and internal and external finishes. The conference fee includes a free copy of each of five new guides.

Leading industry and regulatory speakers at the conference will explain how the new guidance will help reduce pollution from construction sites, and how the commercial and financial benefits of this can be felt at both corporate and project levels.

The conference aims to be of value to contractors and site managers, health and safety managers and executives, policymakers and regulators, project managers, environmental health officers, clients wishing to establish best practice regimes on their sites, monitoring equipment suppliers, developers, plant and equipment suppliers.
