Met Office Issues Yellow Weather Warning For Snow And Ice

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across some parts of Northern Ireland overnight.

A warning has been put in place for counties Antrim, L'Derry and Tyrone.

It has been issued from 9pm on Tuesday until 10am on Wednesday.

The Met Office said: "Showers will turn wintry this evening across the warning area, with the risk of a more prolonged spell of snowfall late in the night and early Wednesday morning, especially in the south. This will give a covering of snow with 2-5 cm possible in many places and locally 5-10 cm, these higher accumulations mainly above 100 m. Icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements are also likely to form."

Motorists are being urged to take care as driving conditions met be difficult in some places.

Major Bus Crash In Newtownards
A serious bus accident occurred on Monday, October 7th, involving an Ulsterbus carrying students from Strangford College. The incident took place at approximately 3:50pm on the Ballyblack Road East, resulting in the bus overturning. Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) declared a major incident and deployed numerous resources to the scene.

Further Race-Related Hate Crime Takes Place In Belfast
Police dealt with a number of race-related hate crime, incidents and disorder last night (8 August) in south and east Belfast. In south Belfast, car was set on fire and a window of a house was broken into on Benburb Street. Windows of a house were also smashed in Kilburn Street.
