Stephen Carson Murder: Two Men Charged

Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of Stephen Carson.

Mr Carson, 28, was shot at his home in south Belfast at around 10.45pm on Thursday.

The pair, aged 32 and 37, are to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 01 March.

Police have been granted an additional 24 hours to question a 39-year-old man.

Mr Carson was having a meal with his partner and nine-year-old son when at least three men entered the house armed with a shotgun and a hammer.

Mr Carson was fatally shot in the head through the door of the bathroom.

Investigation Launched Following Explosion In West Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following reports of a small explosion at a house in west Belfast. The incident happened in the Creeslough Court area of Lenadoon just after 8pm on Wednesday, 07 February. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing. Sinn Fein Councillor Arder Carson condemned the attack.

Belfast Chosen To Host IAU World Championships
Belfast has been chosen to host the 12th International Association of Ultrarunners 24 Hour World Championships in 2017. The ultra running championships, which are held every two years, will be staged in Victoria Park in east Belfast on Saturday 1 July and Sunday 2 July, 2017.

Council To Donate Street Sign To Van Morrison
Belfast City Council is to donate the original 'Hyndford Street' sign to Van Morrison for his 70th birthday. Belfast-born Morrison received a knighthood in the Queen's birthday honours list last month. The Council agreed to donate the street sign following a request from east Belfast MLA Sammy Douglas.
