New £62m Deal Announced Between TfL And Wrightbus

London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced a £62 million deal for almost 200 New Routemaster buses.

The contract, between Transport for London (TfL) and Wrightbus, was confirmed during a visit to the chassis plant in Antrim.

First Minister, Arlene Foster welcomed the announcement.

She said: "Wrightbus is a shining example of a successful indigenous Northern Ireland business.

"Innovation is a key element of economic success and Wrightbus has once again demonstrated their manufacturing credentials.

"This latest contract not only results in almost 200 Routemaster buses servicing London but it is a timely boost for the Northern Ireland manufacturing sector."

TfL Orders 200 Wrightbus Buses
Transport for London has ordered another 200 buses from Northern Ireland's Wrightbus. The New Routemaster buses are to be delivered in the middle of 2016. The announcement will bring the total fleet in London to 800.

Boris To Open Antrim Wrightbus Plant
Boris Johnson plans to open a new Wrightbus plant in Northern Ireland as part of the production of a new fleet of busses for London. The City's Mayor will open the County Antrim facility, which will produce the chassis for the new double deckers. Wrightbus will supply 600 vehicles as part of the £200m contract.
