Thieves Attempt To Steal Cash Machine From Railway Station

Thieves attempted to steal an ATM machine from a railway station in Co Armagh.

Police were alerted of the incident in the Woodhouse street area in Portadown in the early hours of Tuesday morning, after reports that a window had been smashed at the station.

Straps were discovered around a cash machine and a vehicle has been used to try to take the machine away.

Inspector Philip Shepherd said: "I would appeal to anyone who would have been in this area and noticed any suspicious activity to contact Lurgan Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
