Woman Left Badly Shaken After Distraction Burglary In North Belfast

An elderly woman has been left badly shaken following a distraction burglary in north Belfast.

The incident happened in the Prestwick Park area between 2.30pm and 3pm on Tuesday.

The woman answered her door to a man who claimed he was there to work on the electrics in her house. She let the man in and walked with him to the back of the property, however she seen a second man leave the house with her handbag.

Both suspects made off city bound along Prestwick Park.

The victim was not injured, however she was left badly shaken.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information about this incident to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A woman has been left badly shaken following an armed robbery at a Chinese takeaway in north Belfast. The incident occurred at premises on the Cliftonville Road area at around 12.30am on Saturday. A man armed with a knife threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash.

Three men in court over carjacking
Three men were due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today in connection with the hijacking of a car on the outskirts of Belfast. A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man will be charged with hijacking, while a 21-year-old man will be charged with aiding and abetting the hijacking.
