Man Stabbed In Co Down
A man in his 40s has been seriously injured after being stabbed in Co Down.
The incident happened at around 7.35pm in the Castlewellan Road area of Newcastle on Tuesday.
A man has been arrested in connection with the assault.
The victim is being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he is believed to be in a serious condition.
Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard said: "This was a terrible incident, which has shocked the local community in Newcastle.
"It is all the more alarming that it happened in such a family friendly location.
"I hope the injured man makes a full and speedy recovery.
"Crimes of this nature are rare in Newcastle and I would encourage anyone with information to contact the PSNI."

Pedestrian Hit By Car In Co Down
A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Newtownards, Co Down. The incident happened at around 8am on the Belfast Road. The man, aged in his 30s, is in a serious condition at Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The road has been reopened. No further details have been released.

The woman, who was a passenger in the car, remains in a critical condition in hospital. The road remains closed between Ballyards Road and Ennislare Road.

Woman Killed Following Crash On A2
A woman has been killed in a car crash on the Bangor to Belfast Road on Friday, 10 November. The collision happened on the A2 at Ballygilbert after 3pm. A child was also critically injured and is being treated in hospital. Another man involved was treated in hospital, however he has been discharged. The road has since been re-opened.
