Policewoman Charged In Connection With James McDonagh Murder

A policewoman has been charged with a number of offences in connection with the murder of James McDonagh in January.

Mr McDonagh, 28, from Castledawson, was assaulted outside the Elk Inn on the Hillhead Road in Toomebridge on Sunday, 10 January.

A 33-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of perverting the course of justice and one count of withholding information.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: "The woman was arrested and questioned last month and returned to answer her bail today. As a result of our enquiries and following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, she has been charged to appear at Magherafelt Magistrates Court on 17 February."

A 24-year-old man has been charged with Mr McDonagh's murder.

Woman Released Over Murder Of James McDonagh
A woman arrested in connection with the murder of James McDonagh has been released on police bail. Mr McDonagh, 28, from Castledawson, was assaulted outside the Elk Inn on the Hillhead Road in Toomebridge on Sunday, 10 January. He later died from his injuries at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Accused Won't Testify In McShane Trial
A man accused of attempting to murder Co Tyrone woman Natasha McShane will not testify at his own trial, it has been revealed. Heriberto Viramontes, 34, is accused of trying to kill Ms McShane and her friend in Chicago three years ago. On Wednesday, however, Mr Viramontes told Cook County Criminal Court that he would not testify.

Man Remanded In Custody Over Murder Of James McDonagh
A man has been remanded in custody charged with murder of James McDonagh. Mr McDonagh, 28, from Castledawson, was assaulted outside the Elk Inn on the Hillhead Road in Toomebridge on Sunday. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, however he died from his injuries on Monday.

Man Charged With Two Counts Of Attempted Murder
A man, aged 33, is to appear in court charged with two counts of attempted murder after two males were stabbed in Co Antrim. The charges are in relation to an incident in the Carncullagh Road area, Dervock, on 30 July. The man is due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates Court on today, 17 August.

Man Charged With Four Counts Of Attempted Murder
A man has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and a number of other offences. Three men and a woman were attacked at a house in the Queens Park area of Saintfield at around 3.40am on Sunday, 11 March. The woman sustained serious injuries and is receiving hospital treatment.
