L'Derry Security Alert Continues Following Weapon Find
A security alert in L'Derry is continuing after police found a weapon near the City Cemetery.
A suspicious object was discovered at the cemetery in the Lone Moor Road area on Wednesday afternoon.
Police have sealed off the area and are continuing to search the scene.
Inspector Johnny Hunter said: "Police will endeavour to bring the operation to a close as soon as we can, however, we will not take chances with the safety of the local community and we will continue in our work here until we are sure that the area is safe."
No further details have been released.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

New Hottest Day On Record As Heatwave Continues
Northern Ireland has provisionally recorded its hottest day on record for the second time in five days. A temperature of 31.3 °C was recorded at 2:37pm on Wednesday 21 July in Castlederg, County Tyrone – exceeding the temperature recorded in Ballywatticock on Saturday 17 July of 31.2 °C.
