Police Appeal For Witnesses After Pedestrian Dies In Road Collision

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a pensioner died in a crash in west Belfast shortly before Christmas.

Jim Maxwell, 71, was hit a car on the Donegall Road on 23 December at around 7.30pm.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Maxwell walking in the area from the top of the Donegall Road at any time from around 7pm onwards on the 23rd.

"The number to call is 101."

Marathon organisers warn of traffic disruption
Organisers of this year's 22nd Belfast City Marathon are warning motorists of the expected traffic disruption throughout most of Bank Holiday Monday. Disruption can be expected along the routes of both the main Belfast City Marathon and the associated Fun Run which begins at City Hall.

Shot Fired During Arrest
A police officer has fired a shot during the arrest of four men in south Belfast. The incident began when police stopped a vehicle in the Donegall Road area last night. It has been reported that the men were arrested following a car chase through the city. No one was injured.
