Closure Of Strabane Primary School Agreed By Education Minister
Evish Primary School in Strabane is to close following the approval of Education Minister John O'Dowd.
The Minister said that while the school has provided excellent education to children in the local community, "over the years (it) has suffered from declining enrolments and financial difficulties."
"Having considered all the relevant information, I have decided to approve the proposal to close Evish Primary School, with effect from 31 August 2016. Other local alternative provision will ensure that the children have the opportunity to mix with a wider range of peers and will enhance their learning experience," Minister O'Dowd said.
The Minister also paid tribute to everyone connected with Evish Primary School who, over the years, have shown their commitment and dedication to the school and its pupils.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
