Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to at Newry Magistrates' Court.
Nadine Bagnall claimed Income Support totalling £4,875 while failing to declare employment. She was fined £250 and ordered to pay an offenders levy of £15.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Deadline Nears For Expressions Of Interest In NI's Cleantech Hub
Belfast City Council has issued a reminder to green technology investors, developers and occupiers to express their interest in Northern Ireland's first Cleantech Hub at Giant's Park as the deadline approaches.
The deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 27 January.
Since early December, firms have been invited to express initial interest for plots within the £9.5 million development off the Dargan Road, which is expected to create up to 400 green collar jobs when fully completed.
The c.30 acre project is funded by Belfast City Council and is part-funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.
The expressions of interest process is being managed by commercial estate agents Lisney, on behalf of the council.

Denis Gilliland claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £6,591 while failing to declare capital. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
He is also required to repay the outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

15 Expressions Of Interest In Shared Education Campuses Programme
News that 15 expressions of interest have been lodged with the Department under the Shared Education Campuses Programme has been welcomed by Education Minister John O'Dowd. The Minister launched the Shared Education Campuses Programme in January, with a deadline of 31 March for receipt for expressions of interest.

Number Of People Unemployed In NI Falls
The number of people unemployed in Northern Ireland has fallen for the second consecutive year. Newly-published figures by the Department of Trade and Enterprise revealed that in December 2014, the number of people claiming unemployment benefit in NI fell by 900 from the previous month, and now stands at 50,200.

NI's Dole Queue Lengthens
The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in remains on the up despite the equivalent figures falling elsewhere in the UK. The seasonally adjusted figure shows that in August, 57,800 people were registered as unemployed - an increase of 900 on the previous month.

It has emerged that new legislation will require that judges in Northern Ireland should now see repossession proceedings against homeowners as a last resort. According to details just made public, this is part of a repossession protocol which has been announced by the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Declan Morgan.
