Police Appeal Following Suspected Arson Attack In L'Derry

Police have launched an investigation following a suspected arson attack in L'Derry.

The incident occurred in the Liscloon Drive area on Saturday.

A passing police patrol noticed a fire at a shed at around 6.30am.

The Fire Service were alerted and put the blaze out.

A police spokesperson said: "Whilst no-one was injured as a result of this incident, it could well have quickly become a lot more serious due to the close proximity of the oil tank to the fire."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police link hostage incident to attack on police station
Police have linked a gun attack on a police station on Wednesday night with a hostage incident in Co Antrim. A van used in the shooting of Randalstown PSNI station on Wednesday evening is believed to have been the vehicle stolen earlier in the evening from a family who were held hostage by a gang of men at a house in Craigstown Road in the town.

Appeal Issued Following Fire In L'Derry
Police are appealing for information following a fire in the Waterside area of L'Derry. The blaze at a site in Dunfield Terrace was reported at around 8.10pm. Inspector Swanson said: "This was a significant blaze. Thankfully, there have been no reports of anyone being injured.

Masked Men Fire Shots In L'Derry
Police say it's lucky no-one was injured after a number of shots were fired in L'Derry. Masked men are reported to have fired the shots in the Ballymagroarty area of the city at around 9pm on Wednesday 04 March. An investigation is ongoing.
