Firms In North Antrim Invited To Attend Public Meeting

North Antrim businesses have been invited to have their say about the current review of non-domestic rates being carried out by the Department of Finance and Personnel.

Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, 14 January, in the Braid town hall which will be attended by the Head of Rating Policy at DFP, Brian McClure and Glynn Roberts of NIRTA.

The North Antrim MLA said: "The Department are reviewing how rates are calculated, when revaluations take place and what reliefs should be in place within non-domestic rating.

"This is therefore quite an important consultation and local businesses and all those who are affected by non-domestic rating, including sport clubs, should take the opportunity to respond to the consultation and outline what improvements can be made to the system.

"We want to see a system in place that is fair but also takes into account of sustaining town centres and supporting local businesses."
