Man Arrested After Police Seize 15,000 Diazepam Tablets In Co Antrim

A 32-year-old man has been arrested after police seized 15,000 diazepam tablets during a house search in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

The man is being detained at Musgrave Police Station.

He has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class C controlled drug with intent to supply.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop said: "The illegal possession or supply of diazepam is a criminal offence. It is a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act. People should only take such medication when it is prescribed to them by a medical professional."

Prescription Drugs Stolen From Van In L'Derry
A quantity of prescription drugs have been stolen from a van in L'Derry. The medicines, which included diazepam, tramadol and zopiclone, were stolen from a parked van in the William Street area at around 11.40am on Wednesday, 13 April.

Man arrested in connection with 1981 murder
Detectives investigating the murder of a nine-year-old girl in Co Down nearly 25 years ago have today arrested a man on suspicion of her murder. Jennifer Cardy was discovered dead by two fishermen at McKee's Dam near Hillsborough in 1981 after being snatched as she cycled to a friend's house on 12 August that same year.
