Man Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Paul McCauley
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Paul McCauley.
The suspect is being detained at Coleraine police station.
Mr McCauley, 38, died in a care facility almost nine years after an attack in July 2006. He was attending a summer BBQ at the rear of a house in Chapel Road on 15 July 2006. At 3.20am on 16 July, only three people remained at the BBQ. A group of up to 15 people came from out of the bushes and attacked Paul and two of his friends.
He died from his injuries in August this year.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey said: "This arrest brings the number of people who have been arrested since Paul died last June to nine. To date, one man has been charged with murder and another reported to the Public Prosecution Service.
"Our enquiries into this murder are very much ongoing and I would like to thank those people who have so far come forward to assist us since Paul's death. I would continue to ask anyone with any information to contact detectives at Maydown police station on the non-emergency number 101 or use the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
