Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Police Officer

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of an off duty policeman in Co Tyrone in 2008.

The 44-year-old suspect is due to appear in Dungannon Magistrates' Court today, 04 December.

The officer was driving from his home in Castlederg to start a night shift when a dissident republican bomb which was place under his car exploded.

The police officer sustained injuries to his legs, however he was able to crawl out of the car just before it burst into flames.

The suspect has also been charged with causing an explosion and belonging to a proscribed organisation.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman. It is understood two men entered the shop at about 10am on Thursday, one of them was carrying a suspected firearm.

A 38-year-old man is due in court for a number of offences, including attempted murder, after an under car-bomb was planted in a ploy to kill a serving PSNI officer. The suspect was detained in Belleek, Co Fermanagh on Wednesday morning, 11 September.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Police Officer
A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to murder a PSNI officer in Lurgan. Police said they charged the 41-year-old man with attempted murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrate Court on Monday February 6.

Police Officer Acted Contrary To PPS Advice
A police officer acted contrary to the advice of the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) when he gave a man accused of assault an immediate caution, according to the Police Ombudsman. The man had been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a young person at a bus station in Fermanagh in June 2015.
