Local Firms To Host Events To Mark Small Business Saturday
Many local business associations are holding events this weekend to mark Small Business Saturday, supported by Belfast City Council.
Holywood Arches Business Association is hosting a 'Christmas Family Fun Day' on Saturday outside Holywood Arches Library from 11am to 3pm with street entertainment, live music and a chance for families to meet some of the 'Frozen' characters.
Ballyhackamore Business Association is running Family Christmas Tours of Ballyhackamore Village every Saturday up until Christmas including Small Business Saturday.
Strandtown Business Association will see 13 local businesses on the Belmont Road participating in the first ever Bake-Off Challenge letting the public taste and vote for their favourite. Santa will also be visiting from 11.30am to 12.30pm and the Strand Cinema will host its 80th birthday celebration with a kids programme of movies, pop-up events, face painting, cake and balloons from 12 noon to 4pm.
West Belfast Traders Forum will be raising the profile of small businesses in the area on Small Business Saturday and over the Christmas period by delivering its 'Shop Local' campaign. It will be operating a Loyalty Card scheme with special discounts available at shops on Saturday as well as spot prizes to be won and face-painting for the children.
Antrim Road Business Association is also running a competition in the run up to Christmas with prizes to be won which include gifts and vouchers off goods at stores.

Councillor Deirdre Hargey joined the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and others to support the grassroots campaign which encourages people to support small businesses and shop local.

Cochrane Secures Assembly Debate On Small Business Saturday Initiative
Alliance Chair of the Assembly Group on SMEs, Judith Cochrane MLA has secured an Assembly debate on the upcoming Small Business Saturday initiative which aims to encourage people to shop at their local traders and will take place on Saturday 7th December. The motion has all party support and will take place on Monday 2nd December.
