Translink Apologises To Commuters Over 'Major Signalling Failure'

Translink has issued an apology to commuters after a "major signalling failure" disrupted the service between Lisburn and Portadown on Wednesday morning.

A bus substitution service is currently operating between Lisburn and Portadown in both directions.

A spokesperson from Translink said: "Rail tickets are being be accepted on scheduled bus services between these two points.

"Enterprise services are operating from Belfast Central and calling at Moira and Lurgan in addition to the normal scheduled timetabled stops, however passengers should expect some delays.

"We have engineers currently on site and we are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as we can. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Calls For Translink Not To Drift Into Deficit
Alliance Regional Development spokesperson Stewart Dickson MLA has called on the Department for Regional Development to not let Translink drift into deficit. Translink is expected to make a £2 million profit this year but a £22 million deficit over the two years after that.
