Management buy-out at Tyrone Crystal
Senior executives from the business behind one of Northern Ireland’s most familiar brand-names, Tyrone Crystal, have announced a buy-out of the Dungannon-based company from its Tipperary owners.
The management buy-out brings together a team who, collectively, have over 30 years’ experience in the gift and table-top industry.
Commenting on the acquisition from the Tipperary Lifeware Group, Managing Director Peter Nunn said: "The buy-out is good news for the company, good news for our highly-skilled workforce and good news for Northern Ireland.
"We are delighted that Tyrone Crystal has returned to local ownership, and believe that the company has a strong future."
The management buy-out team said it plans to build on the heritage and skill behind the Tyrone Crystal brand and introduce a more contemporary collection to complement the strong traditional designs.
They have already begun this process by engaging one of Europe’s most talented designers to work with them in the creation of a new collection to be launched in spring 2004, the new owners said.
Formed in 1971 to provide employment in the Dungannon area and to revive the craft of crystal making, Tyrone Crystal today employs over 100 people.
