Teen Arrested After Police Seize Samurai Sword And Axe

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after police seized a Samurai sword and an axe in Co Armagh.

Police were alerted of a disturbance in the Killylea Road area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A sword and an axe were seized and the man was arrested for alleged possession of an offensive weapon and suspected criminal damage.

The man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Larne Man In Court Over 'Samurai Sword Attack'
A man has appeared in court in County Antrim today charged with offences relating to a samurai sword attack. Richard Hartin, aged 33, from St John's Place, Larne is accused of swinging the weapon - which he bought on internet auction site eBay - at a police officer's head during disturbances in Larne last February.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Man Arrested For Carrying Samurai Sword
A man carrying a samurai sword in Belfast city centre was Tasered by police in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that police received reports about the man at about 1am on Sunday. Police are said to have used a Taser on the man on Calendar Street before arresting him.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
