All NI Schools Are Eco-Schools - Durkan
All schools in Northern Ireland are now Eco-Schools, the Environment Minister has confirmed.
Minister Mark H Durkan was speaking at the Eco-Schools National Operators Meeting (NOM), an annual global conference, coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
The annual global meeting discusses the development of it’s international programme and shares good practice for the on-going development of eco schools work worldwide.
Minister Durkan said: "It is wonderful to see such a prestigious event being hosted here in Belfast. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the dozens of delegates who have travelled across the globe to be here and to thank all those involved in staging this event. It is an acknowledgement of our own local Eco-Schools successes that we have been chosen to host this conference. I am proud that one hundred per cent of schools here are eco schools. This was a target I set when I was appointed and it's great that it has been met."
