School bomb scare declared a hoax

A security alert at an integrated school in Co Tyrone has been declared a hoax.

Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on a device which was attached to the front gates of Dungannon Integrated College on Wednesday.

Children at the school were evacuated from the building and given the day off.

Alliance education spokesperson, Eileen Bell condemned the hoax and described those behind the attack as "thugs".

"Those who left this device have caused disruption in the lives of the children at the school, and the fact that it was a hoax will do little to alleviate the concern felt by parents.

"I would call on everyone to do what they can to ensure that these attacks are brought to a swift end," she said.
