Council Hosts 'Small Business Saturday Bus Tour'
Belfast City Council hosted the 'Small Business Saturday Bus Tour' at City Hall on Thursday, 05 November, which is touring the UK to highlight small business success and encourage people to 'shop local'.
The campaign aims to boost small businesses by enabling them to promote offers, discounts and special events in their areas in the run-up to Christmas. Local businesses from Holywood Arches and Ballyhackamore Business Associations were among independent retailers which visited the bus today along with Councillor Carole Howard, the Deputy Chair of Belfast City Council’s City Growth and Regeneration Committee.
The Council provides financial support to several business associations through its Area Support programme.
Holywood Arches Business Association will be hosting a 'Christmas Family Fun Day' on Small Business Saturday on 5 December. Running from 11am to 3pm, there will be Disney characters and face painters in the area with retail outlets and businesses offering special promotions.
Ballyhackamore Business Association is running a 'Family Tour' in Ballyhackamore Village every Saturday from 21 November to 19 December which includes Small Business Saturday.

The Lord Mayor welcomed the Small Business Saturday campaign bus to Belfast on Friday, 02 November, in the run up to 'Small Business Saturday' on 01 December. Councillor Deirdre Hargey joined the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and others to support the grassroots campaign which encourages people to support small businesses and shop local.
