PSNI Make First Arrest On New Offence For Paying For Sex
A Northern Ireland man has become the first person in the UK to be arrested for paying for sex.
PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton said the man had been detained by police at a brothel.
Speaking to the Policing Board, Mr Hamilton said: "Detectives from our human trafficking team conducted a brothel search and arrested a man for paying for sexual services, the first such arrest under section 15 of the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Act 2015. Three females were also arrested and interviewed for keeping a brothel."
No further details will be released.

Arrests Made In Human Trafficking Operation
A man has been arrested in Belfast on suspicion of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution, brothel keeping and money laundering. The 57-year-old was arrested by detectives in PSNI's Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit during a search operation. A number of electronic devices were seized.
