Child Stable After Being Hit By Car In East Belfast

A child is being treated in hospital after being struck by a car in east Belfast.

The collision occurred in the Severn Street area on Tuesday.

The six-year-old boy was taken to hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for the Belfast Trust confirmed he is in a "stable" condition.

The road was closed at the time but it has now reopened.

Man escapes injury in shooting
A man has escaped injury after shots were fired at his home in Co Antrim last night. The 24-year-old was inside his house on the McCorley Road in Toombridge when a shot was fired at his front door. Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen a light coloured car driving off from the area at around 11.30pm to contact them.

Former east Belfast UDA leader has bank accounts frozen
Former east Belfast UDA leader Jim Gray has had his bank accounts frozen, Banbridge Magistrates Court heard today. The 47-year-old, who was charged at the weekend with possessing and concealing criminal property but who denies the charges, appeared by video link from Maghaberry Prison and spoke only to confirm his name.

Police Use Of Tasers Was 'Lawful' And 'Necessary' - Report
Ten incidents in which police fired Tasers between July 2012 and June last year were "justified", a Police Ombudsman report has concluded. Dr Michael Maguire found that the use of Taser had on each occasion been lawful, proportionate and necessary given the risks faced by officers and the danger posed to members of the public.
