NI Retail Firm Announces 40 New Jobs

A Northern Ireland retail firm has announced it is to create 40 new jobs as part of a £5 million investment, part funded by Danske Bank.

Fruitfield Reids Farm Foodhall in Richill, between Portadown and Armagh, first opened in 1998 by the Reid family. In recent years the business outgrew its old premises and has now relocated to a bigger site. The new foodhall has been open since December and is servicing approximately 15,000 customers per week. The company currently employs 70 staff.

Fruitfield Reids Farm Foodhall is owned by brother and sister, Gary Reid and Joanne Gourley, and their father, Eric Reid.

Mr Gary Reid, said: "Our business has expanded into more than just a petrol station, with people wanting a complete shopping experience. The site now boasts an off-licence, butchers, home cooked meals, deli counter and restaurant. We also operate a 24 hour pay at the pump (cash and card) Texaco forecourt. We have a strong belief in supporting local producers so where possible our food is sourced locally. Our new premises is double the size of our old store, spanning 13,000 sq ft, with 150 enlarged spaces for ease of car parking.

"Danske Bank has been very supportive – they have been involved with us at all stages of the investment over the last few years and have played an important role in our expansion."
