Man Assaulted In North Belfast
A man has sustained injuries to his head and body after being attacked in north Belfast.
The 44-year-old victim was assaulted after a gang of thugs, one armed with a hatchet, entered a property in the Canning Place area at around 12.45am on Sunday.
The victim was left with a number of injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Bus Stop Injury Victim Named
John Hickey, 72, has been named as the man who died last Saturday following an incident at a Belfast City Centre bus stop. Mr Hickey died as a result of head injuries sustained near Central Library on Royal Avenue at 4:35pm. A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later released.

A man in his 20s has been assaulted by a gang of masked men during an aggravated burglary in west Belfast. The victim suffered a suspected broken jaw and other injuries to his face and body when assaulted at a house in the West Circular Road area of Belfast on Wednesday night, 13 November. The incident occurred shortly before 10.

The victim sustained injuries to his arm and side. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Carrickfergus head injuries victim in hospital
A man has been taken to hospital following what is believed to be an assault in County Antrim. The man, who has not been named, was discovered unconscious at McKeen’s Avenue in Carrickfergus. Detectives understand the man was assaulted. He was taken to hospital suffering head injuries. The incident was reported shortly after 7am this morning.

Freezer victim 'died of head injuries'
The post mortem examination of a man who was found in a refrigeration unit in Galway has revealed he has died of severe head injuries. He had also been badly beaten up and his hands were tied behind his back. It is also understood the man, Patrick McCormack, 52, had been missing for five years and was last seen in Dublin in June 2002.
