Schools To Highlight Dangers Of Concussion
Lesson plans for schools to highlight the dangers of concussion have been launched.
The new web-based resources, which are available in English and Irish, are aimed at Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4 and provide information and activities to help equip pupils with the knowledge they need to recognise the signs and potential dangers of concussion.
The lesson plans which include information for both teachers and pupils, are presented as pupil activities and assist in raising the awareness of concussion and how pupils should respond to protect their own and other's health.

Minister Warns Schools Of Concussion Dangers
Education Minister John O'Dowd has written to schools across Northern Ireland to provide information on concussion and to improve awareness of its dangers. The move follows the death of 14-year-old Benjamin Robinson from 'second impact syndrome"'after playing a in rugby match for his school, Carrickfergus Grammar, in January 2011.

CCEA proposes reforms to Key Stage 3 education
The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) have called for the scrapping of Key Stage 3 testing for pupils. The CCEA are proposing that the first two years of primary education be replaced by "foundation" learning and the ending of exams for first three years of secondary education.

NI Primary Schools Free To Prepare Pupils For Transfer Test
Primary schools in Northern Ireland are now free to prepare pupils for unregulated transfer tests. Education Minister Peter Weir reversed his decision which means schools can now support their pupils by supplying support materials and carry out preparation for tests during core teaching hours.
