Belfast Giants hit top of the table

Belfast Giants coach Rob Stewart was full of praise for his team last night after they recorded their fourth successive win to take them to the top of the Elite League.

The Giants skated back from a 2-1 deficit at the end of the first period to beat Cardiff Devils 6-3.

Double strikes from Jason Ruff and Curt Bowen and a goal from Paul Sample were enough to secure a comfortable victory. Paxton Schulte had an early goal cancelled out through strikes by Cardiff's Merv Priest and Jeff Brown.

Bowen, who is also coach, was named Man of the Match but the 3,000 strong Odyssey audience witnessed a great team performance.

Young Leigh Jamieson was again playing beyond his years and netminder Colin Ryder made some terrific saves particularly in the third period.
