Fireworks Seized After Youths Caught Throwing Them At Motorists

Police in Cookstown have seized fireworks in the Moneymore area after youths were reported throwing them at motorists and homes.

The seizure was made after residents said young people were throwing fireworks at their properties and passing traffic every night this week.

A statement from the PSNI said: "On Wednesday night LPT officers conducted a beat patrol of Rockview / Northland Road area and located some fireworks. These were seized and will be destroyed."

Security forces attacked in Londonderry
Security forces were attacked in Londonderry last night after being called out to examine a suspect package. Police and soldiers were attacked by around 60 youths throwing petrol bombs, fireworks, bricks and bottles during a clearance operation in Fahan Street, which is in the in the predominantly nationalist Bogside area of the city.

Police seize illegal fireworks worth £750,000
Police have seized illegal fireworks worth around three quarter of a million pounds in the Coagh area of County Tyrone. The haul, which was recovered during a planned search on Wednesday October 24, included around 5,000 display units and 400 garden fireworks. The items found have all been taken away for safe storage by the army.

Police attacked during drugs search
Police have come under attack in Londonderry as they carried out a drugs search at a house in the Brandywell area. Officers were attacked with petrol bombs, fireworks, stones and bottles and two of the officer’s sustained minor injuries.

Pensioners escape injury in attack
Two pensioners have escaped injury after their home was attacked in Co Down on Sunday. The couple, who are both in their 60's, were asleep in their home at Chestnut Grove in Newry, when two men began throwing stones at the house shortly before 5.30am.
