SF Welcome Tourism Commitment In Ballycastle
Sinn Féin has welcomed a commitment from Tourism NI to work in conjunction with businesses in Ballycastle to help attract more tourists to the area.
"There is no doubt in my mind that Ballycastle has increased its tourism appeal over the past couple of years with new businesses being set up and a marked improvement, not only at the seafront, but through the entire town," Sinn Féin's Daithí McKay said.
"The issue that needs addressed is ensuring that not only tourists know about what this part of the North Coast has to offer, but also the tourism operators and those who run the bus tours through the north, etc.
"This was a very constructive engagement with John McGrillen and given that he has just come into post it is an opportune time to let him know what needs to be done as he sets about his planning for the organisation.
"He absolutely sees the potential that this part of the North Coast has and that is a good start. I also met with the Chief Executive of the Causeway Coast and Glens Council and it will be important that the council act swiftly on ensuring that an economic development plan for Ballycastle is put in place.
"We all know the potential that this place has, I hope that Tourism NI, along with the local council, Tourism Ireland and others will help us to realise it."
