Elderly couple robbed in Co Down home

Another elderly couple have been left traumatised after being robbed at their home in Co Down last night.

The incident occurred at the couple's home in the Belfast Road area of Holywood at around 9.30am.

The 89-year-old elderly man was pushed against a wall as the men made off with a sum of money.

The incident is just the latest in a long line of incidents against elderly victims.

On Sunday a 74-year-old woman was assaulted by two men during the attempted burglary of her home also in north Down.

It comes a week after a report by Help the Aged showed that there is concern amongst older people at a perceived rise in assaults and burglaries.
