Pensioner 'Very Badly Shaken' Following Burglary In Belfast

An elderly man has been left very badly shaken after his home was burgled in in Belfast on Monday.

The burglary occurred in the the Sunninghill Drive area at around 11.30pm.

Three men forced their way into the property and took a sum of money from the victim's wallet.

The elderly man was not injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Adrian Watt said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has information about this incident to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime Branch, Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information on two separate burglaries over the weekend. In the first incident in west Belfast at about 6.30pm on Saturday 27 November, a man in his 80s was threatened by three men wielding an iron bar at his home on Glen Road. The men demanded money.

Witness Appeal After Stabbing Incident In Downpatrick
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following an assault in the Ardilea Park area of Downpatrick in the early hours of Sunday morning, 10 December. A 22-year-old man was found with serious stab wounds at a house in the Killough Road area just after 4am. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Appeal For Information After Elderly Man Assaulted
Police in L'Derry have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following the report of an assault on the Strand Road on Wednesday, 25th May. Officers received a report shortly after 7pm that a man, aged in his early 70s, had been assaulted.
