Costs Of Theory Tests To Drop

The cost of car and motorcycle theory tests will be reduced from £25 to £23 for tests taken from 1 October 2015.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "From this October, the fee for car and motorcycle theory tests will fall by £2, taking the cost of a test from £25 to £23. Theory test fees for other types of vehicle will also be reduced. I know that this may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but at a time when money is tight.

"This is the second of a two-phase reduction which sees the cost of taking a theory test reduced by almost 25% - from £30 in April 2014 to £23 in October 2015. The latest reduction will apply to theory tests taken from 1 October 2015, and learner drivers can now book tests for this date onwards."

Sinn Féin Hits Out At SDLP Over Marriage Equality Motion

Sinn Féin Councillor Tony McCaul has said that the hypocrisy of the SDLP on the issue of marriage equality knows no bounds.

He also said Sinn Féin will be bringing a fresh marriage equality motion in front of the Assembly in the new session.

Councillor McCaul said: "The SDLP failed to support a motion on marriage equality at a meeting of the Causeway Coast and Glens policy committee while holding a tribute to gay activist P A Mag Lochlainn in Newry.

"Their hypocrisy on this issue knows no bounds.

"It is ironic that as P A Mag Lochlainn, a native of the Causeway Coast and Glens area, was being honoured in Newry his own SDLP constituency representatives refused to support a motion for marriage equality.

"This is not the first time that the SDLP has attempted to ride two horses on the issue and their failure is another let down to the LGB&T community."
