Irish Footballer Charged With Drink Driving
Everton and Republican of Ireland star, Darron Gibson, originally from L'Derry, has been charged after allegedly hitting a cyclist and a petrol pump near his home in Altrincham, Manchester.
The former Manchester United midfielder has been accused of crashing his car and fleeing the scene.
The footballer failed to stop after being involved in a collision with a cyclist on Park Road on Sunday.
Gibson was later arrested and taken to police custody for questioning.
According to the Greater Manchester Police he was charged without due care and attention, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop following the road traffic collision.
He has been bailed and is due to appear at Trafford Magistrates Court on 01 September.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

A fellow top cop and friend of PSNI Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, has been found dead. A post mortem is due to be carried out on the body of Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Michael Todd.

PSNI issue crime prevention appeal to NI fans
Police have warned thousands of Northern Ireland supporters travelling to Saturday’s game against England in Manchester to take extra caution with regard to crime prevention. Officers said that by securing all valuables, such as wallets, credit cards, keys and match tickets, fans can ensure they do not become a victim of theft.

Johnny Adair freed from jail
Former loyalist leader Johnny Adair has been released from prison and flown to England. Mr Adair was taken to RAF Aldergrove on Monday and flown by helicopter to Manchester despite not being due for release until Thursday.
