Work Begins On New Digital Hub In Cork
Construction work has begun on a new digital hub in Skibbereen, Co Cork.
When completed and opened in November of this year, the hub will consist of 75 separate workspaces and will have the fastest broadband connection in Ireland.
The development is expected to create some 500 new jobs within five years.
The centre will be named the Ludgate Hub, Percy Ludgate, a native of the west Cork town. Born in the area in the 1880s, Ludgate is credited with developing the first portable computer.
