15 Belfast Parks Awarded Green Flags

Fifteen Belfast parks have awarded Green Flags, fourteen retaining the quality standard they also attained last year.

Knocknagoney Park in east Belfast is the latest to achieve the environmental quality standard which besides management and aesthetics of parks also incorporates conservation and heritage, environmental sustainability, safety, community involvement and marketing.

Parks which retained the Green Flags are Belfast Botanic Gardens; Barnett Demesne; Grove, Belmont; Cavehill Country Park; Dunville; Lagan Meadows; Musgrave; Ormeau; Falls; Roselawn Cemetery; Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park; Woodvale and Waterworks Park.

Support Given To Over 40 Green Community Projects
Local environmental charities will receive nearly £250,000 from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency to carry out projects over the next three months. Over 40 projects will receive funding of up to £10,000 each to carry out work to benefit Northern Ireland’s people and wildlife.

The company, which has been trading for around 30 years, specialises in waste oil recycling and hazardous waste collection and treatment.
