Police Carrying Out Follow Up Searches After Lurgan Security Alert

Police are carrying out follow up searches in Lurgan after a security alert in the town last weekend.

Families had to be evacuated from their homes during the security operation in the Victoria Street area on Saturday.

PSNI Superintendent Davy Moore said: "These searches are being carried out to ensure the safety of the public and I would like to thank the local community in Lurgan for their continuing support of police as they go about their work keeping people safe. We will do our best to keep any disruption to a minimum.

"I would continue to ask the public to be vigilant in the town. If you notice anything of a suspicious nature please contact us immediately on 101 or 999 in an emergency."

Two Bailed Over Lurgan Drug Haul
The PSNI have reported that drugs - with an estimated street value of £25,000 - have been seized in Lurgan, County Armagh. The cocaine and ecstasy was recovered in the Avenue Road area of the town during planned searches yesterday afternoon. The police said that two men have been arrested and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Malcolm McKeown: Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a shooting in Waringstown, County Down. Malcolm McKeown, aged 54, was shot dead at a petrol station on Main Street in the village on Monday evening, 19 August. The suspect has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Suspected Firearm Found In West Belfast
A security operation in west Belfast has now ended. A suspected firearm was found during police searches in the Upper Springfield Road. Diversions were put in place and the area was sealed off. The item has been taken away for further examination and the road has been re-opened.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of L'Derry Man
Police have arrested a man in relation to the murder of James McConnell In L'Derry in 2009. Mr McConnell, 38, was killed after he was shot at his house in Woodland Avenue by two men. The man, 48, was arrested in Dungiven and is being detained at Antrim police station. The police are also carrying out two searches in Dungiven.

Police Appeal Following Burglary In Ahoghill
Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a burglary in Ahoghill on Tuesday, 12th November. Police received a report that the back door of a house on the Ballymena Road was forced open shortly before 6pm.
