Over 1,000 Gas Cylinders Seized In South Armagh

Four people have been arrested and over 1,000 gas cylinders have been seized in south Armagh on Monday.

As part of an investigation into the illegal production and sale of bottled gas, police conducted searches at premises on Coolderry Road, Newry and Larkins Road, Crossmaglen.

Eleven vehicles, including a curtain sided lorry and G-Power forklift, as well as a quantity of wine along with computers and documentation were also seized by the PSNI Reactive and Organised Crime Branch.

Three men and a woman have been arrested for theft and possession of criminal property.

They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The Health and Safety Executive has been notified.

Man Charged With Drugs Offences In Co Antrim
A man has been charged with drugs offences in Co Antrim. The 42-year-old man was charged after police seized £30,000 of suspected herbal cannabis in the Ballymoney area. He was arrested on the Frosses Road on Monday. He has been charged with possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

Police Seize £10,000 Herbal Cannabis In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have seized around £10,000 of herbal cannabis. The discovery was made after the police stopped a vehicle during a routine drink driving operation in the Mullenan Road area just after 8pm on Thursday. A 45-year-old man was breathalysed and arrested on suspicion of drink driving. They searched his vehicle and recovered the cannabis.

Man Charged Over £60k Cannabis Find
A man is facing charges for drugs offences after police seized around £60,000 of cannabis in County Down. The drugs were discovered during a vehicle stop and search in Moira on Thursday, 19 September. Detectives have charged the 49-year-old man with possession and possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug.

Gas Storage To Be Built Under Lough
A £440m gas storage facility is to be built a mile underneath Larne Lough. The development will enable 500m cubic metres of natural gas to be stored in caverns underneath the lough. The new bank will be able to hold enough gas to provide energy for Northern Ireland for sixty days.
