Priest Held At Gun Point During Robbery

Sinn Féin has slammed the robbers who held a priest at gun point at St Peter's Cathedral in the Divis street area of Belfast on Monday night.

MLA for West Belfast, Fra McCann, said those who carried out the robbery are the "lowest of the low" and must be caught.

The Falls MLA said: "The people who entered the Cathedral and held a local priest at gun point before forcing him to show them around the presbytery and escaping with the weekend's collection are the lowest criminal elements possible.

"They then left the priest locked in a room where he remained until 10am this morning. The purpose is to put fear into the victim in this case a local priest who's only mission in life is to look after the spiritual and physical wellbeing of people who live in the community."
